The helpful PatioCats

mini-20140331_080032

I was transferring a new packet of kibbles into the food arsenal this morning and Vincent came to help...immediately!

mini-20140331_080037

Dig in, Heidi, dig in...before she comes back...quick, Heidi!!

mini-P3310616

And here's Ginger with me inside the storeroom.

mini-P3310617I'm helping to count the bars of soap...

Today, we are delighted to receive an order of 70 bars of soap and 15 tubes of toothpaste! The order is from the Mudita Buddhist Society. They are making offerings of requisites to the monks. Buddhist monks are offered food, medicine, clothing (robes) and basic requisites, by the lay community. So, instead of buying soap and toothpaste from the supermarkets, Mudita decided to get their supply from us.

Isn't that wonderful? The monks will get to use cruelty-free products (which is so good for their spiritual practice), the street animals benefit from our Fund, all parties are not be supporting animal-testing and by this noble deed, we educate by example!

It's a Win-Win-Win-Win situation!

Thank you, Mudita Buddhist Society, for supporting our cause!

Cleo and her "manja" ways

While Cleo is a no-nonsense princessy-cat and she is the only one whom Cow is afraid of, she has her own "manja" ways too!

mini-P3300618

She loves being patted and stroked, but only on her own terms and only when she asks for it.

mini-P3300619

But don't try and cuddle her or carry her - she doesn't like it at all.

mini-P3300620

If you want to be in her good books, follow her cue.

mini-P3300621

She'll tell you what she wants. You just got to "listen".

mini-P3300622

I want to be patted.

mini-P3290617Although Cleo is 7 years old this year, she'll always be our "little girl"!
There's this "baby" youthful look in her that makes her totally adorable.

Ginger is looking at the next blanket now...it's his job to supervise and ensure quality control.

Happy Bidding!!

Tiger Day 24

Today is Day 24 and it has been a roller-coaster ride with Tiger. In fact, I think we are facing a setback, but let's hope it's either due ot licking or it's a minor one.

This morning, everything looked fine.

mini-left front B

Left front pay - just one stubborn sore to watch out for.

mini-left hind A

Left hind leg - all drying up, as they were in the previous days.

mini-left hip

This one on the left hip is another stubborn one.

mini-right hip B

The right hip actually had all these sores, which I didn't really notice earlier until they were drying up.
They are still dry now.

mini-P3300618 mini-P3300631 mini-P3300633

But by evening, I noticed the sores on the hip getting inflamed (it could be due to licking).

So I thought I should apply the Wound Protector...

mini-P3300632

These ones on the hip.
I managed to trim the hair around all the sores on both hips so that they can be monitored more closely.

mini-P3300630

The ones on the left hind leg still looked quite okay.

Since I was applying the Wound Protector on the hip sores, I thought I should apply on all the other sores.

That turned out to be a bad idea, because within the hour, the other sores too became inflamed.

I think it could be due to licking. At least, I HOPE it's due to licking and that we are not facing a setback.

mini-P3300637

Left front paw - slightly inflamed.

mini-P3300639

Left hind leg - quite inflamed.

Sigh...

So, it's back to Lamisil cream and e-collar again (at least for one hour).

mini-P3300640

Sorry, Tiger ol' boy, you have to wear the collar for awhile.

We want you to get well.

Let's see how things are tomorrow and we can then decide if we should not use the Wound Protector.

Tiger Day 23

The sores continue to dry up!

mini-P3290635

The left hind leg - the Gang of Eight all drying up!

mini-P3290636

The right hind leg.

mini-P3290614

The left front paw - one more stubborn sore (photo taken in the morning).

mini-P3290633

Photo taken in the evening.

mini-P3290625

The one on the hip - also drying up, but a bit tricky as it gets inflamed when it is licked.

mini-P3290611

Tiger on this chair.

mini-P3290628

Tabs sleeping amongst the pandan leaves.

mini-P3290629Today is Day 23. When Tiger was first diagnosed, I was cautioned that the treatment will take months and is going to be very challenging. It was going to be a long, long haul, but I'm glad Tiger has shown great improvement over the past few days. I hope there will be no relapse.

Thank you, everyone, for all your kind wishes and prayers for Tiger!

P.S. The vet told me there was another case of an FIV+ sporo cat where a relapse occurred after 2 months. The sporo spores are really a stubborn and resilient lot.

Who's who at Bunny's Place

Now, over at Bunny's Place, the social hierarchy is far more complicated and is fluid and non-linear.

Yes, it changes according to the seasons.

Right now, we observe this:

mini-P3290614

Tabs is at the bottom of the social food-chain. Cow & Bunny bullies her.

mini-P3290609

But Indy and Cleo bullies Cow.

mini-P3290613

Pole bullies Bunny.

mini-P3290615

Bunny bullies Tiger.

mini-P3290610

Indy bullies Cow.

mini-P3290612

Cleo bullies Cow and takes a swipe at everyone and anyone who crosses her path.

And Cleo is only afraid of...

mini-P3290616

...Pole!

And Pole is afraid of her imaginary friend but this only happens once in a while!

It's complicated and non-linear, so here's the chart:

hierarchy

Subject to change without prior notice!

Who's who at the patio

mini-P3290613

As in human communities, there is also politics and social hierarchy in feline communities.

At the patio, we have observed the following:

mini-P3290617

Ginger intimidates Vincent; Vincent is actually very scared of Ginger.

mini-P3290614

Vincent intimidates Mr Zurik.

mini-P3290616

Mr Zurik intimidates Willy.

mini-P3290611

Willy chases Heidi.

mini-P3290618

And Heidi rules us all!

So, we humans are at the bottom of the social food-chain, so to speak!!

mini-P3290612

Tiger and Tabs are peace-loving cats, so they are welcomed everywhere.

Choose peace. It's the wiser choice!

mini-P3290615

Timmy used to bully Ginger, but this has stopped now. Wise Timmy Thompson!
