Breakfast at the patio

mini-P1280660

Breakfast was very early this morning.

It was peaceful as Mr Zurik hadn't come...yet.

mini-P1220655

But came, he did.

mini-P1220656 mini-P1220657

We feed him twice a day, but he cannot get along with the PatioCats, so we are looking for a home for him.

If you'd like to give him a home, please do let me know. Mr Zurik is an extremely "manja" cat and very clever too!

Refurbishing the cats' chairs

Our cats aren't that heavy, but look at what's happened to the Clubhouse chairs...

mini-P1140653

Both chairs suffered the same fate. And both are Tiger's and Cow's favourite chairs.

So, my husband decided to refurbish the chairs...

mini-P1140655

First, cut away all the loose strands.

mini-P1140656 mini-P1140657

Cut their favourite "springy netting" to the correct size for the seat.

mini-P1140658

Tie the netting neatly down with cable ties.

mini-P1140654

And tadah, we have a new seat!

He repaired both chairs and left it out for the cats to try, but this afternoon was particularly hot, so no one sat on them.

mini-P1140659

Finally....this evening, Tiger decided to try and yes!

It looks even more comfortable and should be more lasting now.
After all, the frame is aluminium and is made to last in rain or shine.

Tiger saying "thank you, thank you".

A little later...

mini-P1140648

Old is gold, isn't it?

They seem to prefer the old (refurbished) chairs - it must have all their scents and so much history!

Sentry duty? Did someone say "sentry duty"?

Sharing the Carebears Blankie

mini-PC090616

We see this very often. Mother-and-daughter sharing the Carebears blankie...

mini-PB150586

...while Ginger sleeps in his basket.

But today...

mini-PC100627

...this is totally new!

Where is Daffodil?

mini-PC100628

Here!

mini-PC100629Look at Rosie's hind legs!

Isn't Ginger simply a very good-natured brother?

The seniors' safe havens

In this raining season...

mini-PC060610

Daffodil has taken over this box as her safe haven.

It used to be shared by Ginger and Heidi, but not anymore now.

You seldom get to see Daffodil sleeping as she is always on the alert, but here she is, totally at ease and feeling safe.

mini-PC060613

Heidi likes the rubber mat.

Tiger will always ask to be let out whenever anyone is home. He pushes on the grille until someone lets him out.

Mr Zurik IS around!

After disappearing into thin air for a few weeks, we spotted Mr Zurik today!

To recap, Mr Zurik disappeared after he ran helter-skelter out of the house compound when Cow unleashed his fury at the Stargate by letting out a terrifying war-cry and slamming himself onto the polycarb at the gate. Vincent and Mr Zurik were having a war-crying stint right outside the Stargate that night, as usual, and this irritated Cow. Poor Indy was nearby and he sustained bite injuries from the ferocious Cow. It took Indy more than a week to recover from those bites.

Ever since then, we had not seen Mr Zurik at all.

That has been many weeks.

This afternoon, as we were driving down the road, we saw Mr Zurik rolling about right outside "his house". He looked well.

On the way back, we slowed down to see if we could spot him again and there he was....

Zurik at 27

He still looks pretty much the same, doesn't he?

I'm glad he is well. He's really better off back in his own house because if he comes to our house, all the PatioCats run the risk of being chased by him.

Keep well, Mr Zurik.

When will it stop raining?

Sunny skies are so rare these days...

It's been raining, raining and raining, sometimes even continuously or several times a day.

So, it's been so, so cold for everyone.

mini-PB150587

Luckily I have my basket.

mini-PB150588

We have each other.

mini-PB150589

If there is thunder, Heidi hides.

Vincent, the soldier, stays in the porch or under the car. He is always on guard duty.

mini-PB290603

When it rains, everyone is in the room.

Everyone? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....

Where is Indy?

mini-PB290604

Rain or shine, the vigilante patrols his area to keep the peace.

You cannot find a more dedicated patrol-cat.

Indy is back in action

It took Indy more than a week to recover from that ferocious Cow-Bite on his paw. It was the hot compression with salt water that helped turn things around.

At the tail end of his recovery, he started sneezing. The vet said to let him ride out the flu and no medicines were given. I only supplemented with Vetri DMG. The flu lasted about a week and finally the sneezing stopped. Thankfully it also did not spread to the other 6 cats. Indy was also "considerate" enough to stay as far away as possible from the other cats. He would go to the end of the garden and sit on the furthest shelf by himself.

And now, our superhero is back in action....

Cats and the circle game

A few readers shared this and it's too cute not to pass on.

Please try it, and if it works, please leave a comment on this post!

http://www.earthporm.com/trap-cat-3-easy-steps/

Apparently, cats are attracted to sit inside a circle.

Look...

cat trap 1 cat trap 2 cat trap 3

It looks fun, so I decided to try on our cats.

mini-PB130585

The trap is laid.

mini-PB130582

Our superhero investigates. If there is any danger, our hero is always at the front line.

mini-PB130583

Eh? Not interested??

mini-PB130584

Oh I see, a distraction at the grille.

I guess the distraction is more interesting...

mini-PB130586

Here comes Cleo...

Step in, Cleo. Step in...

mini-PB130587

The distraction proves to be too distractive and Cleo moves away from the circle.

mini-PB130588

Maybe a more colourful circle?

Here comes Tiger...

mini-PB130589

Hesitating? But it's safe, Tiger. Please do step into the circle.

mini-PB130590

No?

mini-PB130591

There's no way I'm vacating my comfortable mat for that circle.

mini-PB130592

Tabs decided she'll play it safe by staying on her editor's chair.

Let's move the circle outside and see if the PatioCats are interested...

mini-PB130593

I guess not?

mini-PB130594

Wait a minute....here comes Ginger!

mini-PB130598

Oh, he just wants to play.

mini-PB130597

Does sitting at the edge count?

game over

Game over!

Indy has messed up the circle!

Conclusion: Not ALL cats are attracted to sit inside a circle!

What else attracts a cat?
