Portrait time!

These are the first few photos taken with my new camera. Why new? You won't believe this, but after my camera was repaired (and it was working fine), I was told my battery had warped so badly that I cannot use it anymore or it would leak anytime and destroy my whole camera. So I had to go buy a new battery. But because this brand is only popular in Japan and not in Malaysia, the shops did not carry the battery for this model anymore. We must have gone to no less than 8 shops in Subang and PJ today. It's the same story in every shop.

Sobs...

So, it's either I revert to using my handphone or buy a new camera, or I'd have no stories to tell on the blog.

This model was on offer and it was affordable. Amongst the few tested, it's the fastest. So it had to be this one. For me, I only need two features - fast speed and the zoom. This is the closest I could get to my (sobs!) old camera (which is now retired unless and until I can get a battery for it. They don't even sell the compatible battery for it...sigh.)

Wow your new camera can sure take nice photos.....but then again, it is not hard if you have supermodels like these posing for your shots. Super cute!

We love the portraits with the new camera! Who is the tabby at the top -- is that Heidi? All lovely photos. Thank you!

So far, it doesn't seem to be as good as the old one or maybe, I haven't got used to it yet. Some shots were blur (cats in motion). But then again, I don't have a steady hand also...ha ha. Or maybe it's the settings that need to be adjusted to my needs. Plenty to learn!

Maneki, that's Mandela Tiger....as in, Tiger the "Vegetarian"? Tiger the Peacekeeper?

All the photos are very nice. I especially love the first one of Tiger ... aww, so adorablely wide-eyed cuteness <3 He's round and fat too but so cute la ... he he :)

Sorry though about your old camera :( Going to 8 shops and more to hunt for the battery is no joke! I'd be tired out!

You could try looking for the battery at www.lelong.com.my/. Try to find compatible ones if the original brand is hard to come by. That's what I did.

Thanks! The 8 shops told us even compatible ones are hard to find. But I have "ordered" one from one of the shops.

Tiger looking wishful..world peace maybe. Love it

It's much cheaper getting it online. The shop was quoted 50% higher than the online price. Delivery was also prompt. It was my first experience with lelong.

Thanks for the tip!

Hard to find is nonsense! Bad excuse for sloppy business practices. It's just that these shops are usually "family" business and they stick to their usual supply-order chain and couldn't be bothered to take the extra effort to source for other suppliers. The "old" camera has widely used in US and Europe too - just not in Malaysia due to bad marketing (after your dealing with them to get it fixed, you'll understand why). Compatible batteries is just an online order away. Even Energizer and Duracell are making compatible batteries for this camera.

So what did you finally get? The new pics look nice.

The Olympus VH-510, Don. Amongst the compact cameras I tested, this one was the fastest.

Looks like a good buy from the photos posted.

Am still learning how to use it. It's more user-friendly than the previous camera and is as fast (provided the flash is not used). But maybe the old one is a teeny weeny faster. Thanks for all your advice!
