This is indeed a piece of lovely blanket with a very sweet blue colour! I'm sure that Jasmine is keeping her fingers crossed and praying hard that she'll be the lucky one to own it. So, for this round, how about giving her a chance to own it? I'm sure she must be very happy if she's the lucky bidder - the same goes for us if we are in her position and we will also be happier too if we can help make her happy!

Hello Linda!

The blanket should go to whoever that bids the highest because the main purpose of the bidding is not buying the blanket but to gather funds to help animals in need. The higher the bidding the better because this means that more animals can benefit from needed food, medicines and surgeries.

I'm sure Jasmine would not mind if the blanket goes to the highest bidder because she has been happily playing along with the bidding game. And it is a fun game for everyone - you get to raise funds and at the same time get a beautiful blanket. Even if Jasmine does not get the blanket, she knows that her bidding has upped the price :D

So please let the bidding game continue. It should go higher, and it can go higher. Think of the animals and have fun!

Hey and remember people, Mrs. Chan had to take off the brown squares and replace them with the pretty baby blue ones. This means she spent about 2x more work on this blanket than the ones before. If she took so much effort to perfect the blanket, let us make it worth her effort. Keep up with the bidding!

(Ahem ... I would if I could ...)

Oh, I'm with you, Chen! This blanket is gorgeous. I love the melodious shades of blue, and I wish I had the wherewithal to bid on it.

Linda, I agree with Chen's comment above: the point of a charity auction is to raise as much money as possible for the cause, in this case, to help homeless animals. I've often participated in fund-raising auctions, and I've never won or lost so happily. If I paid more than a reasonable amount, so what? The animals win! If someone else placed a higher price and took home that beautiful item, so what? The animals win again!

What is KY's mantra, after all? "Remember folks, it's all about the animals."

So now I'll put on my auctioneer's hat: "C'mon folks, we got 800, do we hear 900, gimme 900, 900 for the animals, folks! You know this one-of-a-kind handmade patchwork is a steal at double that price, so let's hear a bid of RM900!" :-)

chankahyein said...

Yes, Chen and Maneki. A charity auction is held in the spirit of fun and its sole purpose is to raise as much funds as possible for that charity. Hence, the bidding is done in the spirit of goodwill and FUN! There are no individual losers or winners at the end of the day. The real winners will be the charity and all its beneficiaries (in this case, the animals!).
So yes, let the bidding continue! Let's keep the fun in the process until 2pm tomorrow!

Dear Linda,

Thank you for being so nice and wanting me to own Aunty Chan's lovely blanket. It's really so sweet of you :)

I do agree with Chen, Maneki and Sis Kah Yein that in a charity auction, the best bidder wins and it's all done in the spirit of goodwill and fun. I'm happy that Wine Dogs has upped the bid now. May the best bidder wins because ultimately it's for the welfare of the street animals.

Thanks once again for your kind intention. May you be well and happy :)

regards,
jasmine

Linda Low said...

Hi! Sorry for the misunderstanding caused - my apologies here. Since the bidding can go much higher, you're all being applaud to carry on with the spirit of goodwill bidding for a worthy cause and may the highest bidder win! God Bless!

Hello?! Is the recent fuel price hike affecting the bidding? Why so careful?
