Tiger eats on his own and Bunny-in-cloak (no dagger!)

Last night, Cleo whacked (more like smacked) Cow and Bunny on the face. Trust our little girl to do the needful to teach her uncles a lesson for being bullies.

So, all was well last night without any incident...with Cleo in charge, of course.

To play it safe, I let Tiger eat in the room this morning.
He ate his normal amount and took all his medicines without so much as a fuss.

mini-PC310252

Then, I spotted Cow and Tiger lounging at the Clubhouse.

That's nice, I suppose, as long as Cow does not suddenly become crazy again.

Yesterday, the vet quipped that it must have something to do with the names I've given them. "Cow" and "Bunny" are both docile animals, so these two have to prove their feline worth. Maybe if I'd given them names like "Shark" or "T-Rex", they wouldn't have to prove themselves now and might be docile...like Tiger!

It's all in the name, folks. Give careful thought when you next choose a name for a cat, dog or hamster!

mini-PC310254

But never fear, Cleo is here and near.

Now, Cleo is one who has lived up to her name (Cleopatra). But truth be told, I wasn't even thinking of Cleopatra when I named her. I was thinking of Cleo the Goldfish in Pinocchio! (because of her calico spots, being colourful).

This Cleo!

Eventually, the meek shall inherit the earth, eh?

Our female felines don't get into trouble or silly fights.

Or, as Mr Miyagi says: Julie-san, fighting not good. But if must fight... WIN.

mini-PC310259

Meanwhile, Bunny has shown good improvement on his balding problem.

mini-PC310260

I'm not sure what it is: Diet change OR the Revolution spot-on.

But whatever it is, it is working.

mini-PC310262 mini-PC310264 mini-PC310265

He has stopped balding further and his fur is growing back.

Peek-a-boo and Happy New Year, everyone!!

Cow bites Tiger and it's off to the vet's

Sigh...

Cow is crazy at times and today was one such time.

This morning, I heard the sound of catfight in the Clubhouse and by the time I checked, which was within seconds, I saw Cow confronting Tiger. Cow was panting like a mad person with tufts of Tiger's hair in his mouth. Tiger was too scared to even move. Bunny was walking away from the scene.

I whisked Tiger out to the living room. Based on the scene above, I assume Cow attacked Tiger. Why Bunny was there, I don't really know.

But Tiger seemed fine; we could not see any visible injury with our untrained eye and he wanted to go back into the room, so we let him back in.

In between, there was an episode of Bunny confronting Tiger (no yelling involved) and even Indy confronting him. So we let Tiger roam in the living room again. But Tiger was really afraid of Heidi, so Heidi had to go out to the porch.

mini-PC300246

He seemed fine and even took a long afternoon nap with me on the sofa.

But by late afternoon, we noticed Tiger limping. It was his left front paw which he could not place down. And he did not even want to eat his dinner. I managed to handfeed him, though (not forcefeed, but feeding by hand where he ate on his own). But he wouldn't let us check that paw. He growled and hissed.

So it was off to the vet's. Not taking any chances. Not eating is never a good sign.

Tiger whined throughout the journey.

mini-20131230_181903 mini-20131230_181908

The vet observed Tiger and noticed that he could put his full weight on that left front paw (which was good). He was even able to jump down from a stool, walk over a bar, and placed his full weight on that paw each time.

But the vet suspected bite wounds, so he shaved Tiger's paw.

mini-20131230_182846 mini-20131230_182904

Sure enough, there were multiple bite (puncture) wounds with clear fluid oozing out. There was no pus yet, which was good, so the infection was just starting. The flesh around the wounds were inflamed (hardening).

The vet recommended warm compression, soaking in warm salt water (to draw out the fluid that is causing congestion at the site of the wound), antibiotics is also an option. Since Tiger is FIV+, antibiotics is preferred. We had a choice of Clavomox (which is stronger) or Amoxicillin (same function but milder than Clavomox). The vet suggested we go for Amoxicilin as the infection was not severe (it's best to keep Clavomox for more severe infections, just in case, especially when Tiger is FIV+; better not overkill on the use of antibiotics for a minor infection now. Tiger might need stronger antibiotics later in life.)  That made sense.  The vet also prescribed another antibiotic, Metronidazole, which is good for the inflammation as well as a papase enzyme to help reduce the inflammation. We will also give him Vetri DMG (I already had before leaving the house).

Tiger had a temperature of 39.8 degrees, which is a mild fever.

Luckily we did not delay in bringing Tiger in.

And oh, Tiger weighed only 5.6kg. I was surprised as I thought he would surely surpass the 6kg mark. The good news is that Tiger had maintained his weight since many years ago. He was 5.65kg then. He is still obese, though.

mini-PC300247

So, Tiger came home, with a shaven paw. Poor guy.

We did the warm salt water dip just now, but could not even last 1 minute as he was growling and angry. We figured we'd better not push it tonight. The stress might do more harm. The vet did say that for normal (non FIV+) cats, wounds like these could even heal on its own. But we would not want to take any chances with Tiger. The vet also said that if I felt Tiger wasn't getting any better, I could go back and get the Clavomox for him.

mini-PC300248

Meanwhile, I think Cow felt really bad as he was seen grooming Tiger by licking his back.

Sigh...Cow is unpredictably mad. One moment he would be this super-manja cat asking to be stroked and the next, his teeth can sink into your flesh causing blood spurting out like a mini fountain. He has a severe petting aggression issue with humans, but I am not sure what issues he has with cats. Or why he attacked poor Tiger today.

mini-PC300250

Bunny took advantage of Tiger's condition and tried to attack him twice.

Poor Tiger's only ally is Tabs and as you know, there isn't much that Tabs can do.

mini-PC300251

Now, you...you please behave, okay? Can we rely on you to protect Tiger? But you are also slightly mad...sigh.

tigerWe hope Tiger recovers soon.

Oh...Mindy Gretchen is male?

Today we made "history" - Willy and Mr Zurik ate side by side at the culvert without anyone bullying the other or one running for his life to hide inside the drain.

I wasn't able to take a photo as I had one hand on the phone (a kitten case just came up).

Dinner was peaceful...totally and after finishing his meal, Willy went across the road.

mini-20131229_162119 mini-20131229_162124

But soon, from down the road, we sighted Mindy Gretchen walking up....

mini-20131229_162132

Willy stiffened, Mr Zurik watched closely and suddenly, Mindy Gretchen leapt onto the playground (where Willy had gone to) and gave chase.

Willy screamed.... and ran for his life!

mini-20131229_162207

Mindy won....hands down.

Hmm....a femme fatale, isn't she?

mini-20131229_162213

Willy was unharmed.

I did not want to interfere but I was watching closely. It's good that Willy can protect himself and flee for safety.

mini-20131229_162218 mini-20131229_162228

As Mindy walked back to her territory down the road, I thought I caught glimpse of....her scrotum? Yes, it was a pair of scrota alright, unless my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Oh...Mindy is actually male? Now, why did I think Mindy is the black-and-white spayed female at the pavilion?

Then, we must call her....Marcel, perhaps?

mini-20131229_162241

Vincent, Daffy & Rosie watched in the safety of our porch.

mini-20131229_162405

Willy soon came out from hiding under the car. He's okay.

mini-20131229_162514

Timmy was....being Timmy.

mr g

And we had a visit from Mr G!

Hello, how are you, Mr G?

Willy, Mr Zurik and Mr Zurik's new kitten-friend!

mini-20131226_163841

Willy lives inside our drain, right outside our house.

mini-20131226_163919

Nowadays, he gets a can of Monge or LeChat for each meal.

Mr Zurik and Vincent are still out to chase Willy away, so the water-gun is a must, whenever I feed Willy. There was once I was duped - Mr Zurik came from the left and Vincent from the right. Before I knew it, Willy had fled into the drain! Poor little guy...I guess he's not ready to be the Lion King yet.

Presentation1

I also have to stay with him until he finishes his meals.

mini-20131228_074703

Only the water-gun can keep Mr Zurik at bay.

mini-20131228_074811

Willy is very friendly these days. He rubs himself on my leg and allows me to carry him too.

Meanwhile, this evening while we were on our way out...

mini-20131228_175357

We spotted Mr Zurik with a new kitten-friend down the road.

Mr Zurik was hiding behind a dustbin!

It reminds me of Mr Quack and all his kitten-friends!! Tough on the outside, soft inside!

By the way, Mr Quack is doing well. It's been more than a year now. He is still only friends with tiny kittens and avoids all contact with humans and other cats, including the adopter too. But sometimes the adopter manages to pat him on the back - and that's as far as it will go!

I went back to search for the kitten after coming home, but there was no kitten by the roadside anymore. Hopefully, the kitten has a home.

In defence of the cat pillow box!!

Dawn Tan helped us take orders for our cat pillows (thank you very much, Dawn!) and she recently ordered 34 cat pillows through us!

Here's what happened when the pillows arrived at her office, which incidentally (and fortunately!) is very cat-friendly.

mini-IMG-20131224-WA0000

Pillow Galore!!

mini-IMG-20131224-WA0002

Ah Da, one of her office cats, goes for the pillows first, with the intention of kidnapping a few!

And meanwhile, Dawn takes a quick lunch break and by the time she comes back, her other cats (in collaboration with Ah Da, I'm sure) had "stolen" the two packs of silvervine powder Dawn bought from us! Yes, we also sell (by donation) silvervine powder, in case you wish to "refresh" your pillows after several months of usage.

mini-IMG-20131224-WA0003

Dawn quickly puts the pillows away....and luckily, manages to recover the two packs of silvervine powder, unscathed.

Ah Da already has his own pillow, of course, but you know what they say, "the more the merrier" and this certainly applies to cat pillows...for cats, that is. And if you cannot get the pillow, get the powder! A pillow is only as good as its powder, you know.

But by then, Dawn has hidden all the pillows and the two packs of powder...

mini-IMG-20131224-WA0004

Never mind, Ah Da is content with just guarding the box then!

Ginger (Day 6) and Timmy Tales

Ginger's appetite has returned and in fact, he's making up for lost time - he keeps asking for food!

mini-PC210242

Ginger is eating his wetfood again, but he will ask for (expect to be given) Royal Canin kibbles.

mini-PC210244

What about me?

mini-PC210245

The trouble is, Daffodil takes a very long time to finish her food, so poor you have to be caged until then.

So I let Timmy out, but he has to be restrained.

mini-PC210246 mini-PC210247

Like so.

mini-PC210248

Me good boy, me wants food. Like, maybe, Royal Canin?

mini-PC210249

Daffodil finishing the last bits.

mini-20131221_103248

Ginger doesn't go up to his rooftop hideaway anymore now that he is well.

mini-20131220_165245

Outside, Willy has heard about Royal Canin kibbles as well, so he wants that too.

I wonder what I'm going to do with one large pack of Equilibrio. Nobody wants it anymore now.

Poor Willy is now chased by Stormtrooper Vincent. So when I go out to feed Willy, I have to take the water-gun along. This photo above was taken yesterday afternoon when it rained quite heavily. Willy sat in the rain waiting for his food. So I had to hold an umbrella over him so that he could eat without getting wet.
