What is a "Bunny Rampage"?

Somehow the two words don't go together, does it? Bunny and Rampage? It should not even appear in the same sentence, actually.

But it does....when you have a 6.85kg cat named Bunny who thinks he is master of all he surveys and delights in going on a bullying rampage at his whim and fancy.

This is what happened:

Yesterday, while I was at work, my husband took the following two photos below. Apparently, Bunny was on a rampage, and the situation had escalated to such an out-of-control stage that he just had to let the three non-Cows out of Bunny's Place.

It all started when Tiger was fast asleep, minding his own business, but Bunny decided to go over and wake him up rudely by scratching him. Tiger awoke, startled, and instinctively scratched back (as one would if a band of mosquitoes was to suddenly attack one's face when one is fast asleep). It was clearly a reflex action on Tiger's part, but Bunny was furious that anyone would dare retaliate instead of cringing in fear.

Hence, the encounter erupted to a red alert status within seconds.

With Tiger "fighting back" albeit only instinctively, Bunny went on a rampage to attack his next target.

I do not have the interim details, but in no time, Tabs was clawing at the grille to be let out.

There was also no report on Indy (we know he is the mysterious one and could go either way), but as the photos below show, Indy was also let out.

Due to the panic situation at that time, we apologise for the blurry photographs below.

Get out! Get out! Quick!

Tiger, rudely awakened from his sleep and attacked for no apparent reason, quickly comes out but is still visibly shaken.

Indy is seen in the background but one wonders if he was also a victim. With Indy, you'll never know.

After the three refugees had settled down.

Tabs appears to have had her fears contained and is calm but Indy is still on the alert for possible infiltration by the enemy.

I will not rest until the situation is contained to my satisfaction!

By the time the situation was under control, my husband had to go to work and he thought of letting Tabs stay upstairs but decided against it as the girl is also known to be quite an escape artist. So no, Tabs had to go back inside the warzone. Yes, it was a Catch 22 situation, it was between the devil and the deep blue sea, so difficult choices have to be made, sometimes.

Indy and Tiger would be able to fend for themselves and protect Tabs.

And by the time I came home, there was no trace of any skirmish or scuffle, so I was blissfully unaware of all the goings-on until I saw the photographs and heard the full report.

All seemed well to me...

You called?

This morning, there were pockets of activity after breakfast, but nothing significant happened (thank goodness for that!).

And here is the chief aggressor himself, Mr Bunny Bun Buns:

Er Bunny...you're supposed to play inside the green tube, not sit on it and flatten it!

You want to say that again to me?

Sorry Bunny...of course you may do whatever you wish with the green tube...anything at all, Mr Buns.

Elsewhere...

 Oh-oh...the tides have turned.

As we've always said, you can never quite figure out Indy.

Is it full moon soon?

Come what may, I have to get to work now, so....pray for peace, folks!

Have a great day!

The plight of being an "Undercat"

We have the "Thundercats", and we have the "Undercats".

The "Undercats" is a minority organisation and there are currently only two members: Willy-O and Tabs. One outside and one inside. Of course between the two, Willy-O is a bigger victim than Tabs. The former is bullied by Vincent Valentino Starr, Mr G and possibly even Ginger while the latter is bullied by the Cow Family.

That being the case, feeding Willy-O is fast becoming a skill. A juggling skill, if you like.

Yesterday, it was not possible to put the bowl inside the house compound, so I had to leave it right outside the gate.

 Willy approaches cautiously.

Yay! He eats.

But he is on the alert for possible confrontation or distant aggression by the Patio Family.

The fact that it was peak traffic in the morning is no help either. With cars passing by, some way past the acceptable speed limit for a housing area, Willy could not eat in peace. He is also wary of the joggers and walkers passing by.

So I brought the bowl in.

By then, the Patio Family was already finishing their breakfast and Rosie was on the way out to see what was going on outside.

I had to contain her at the bench area.

Oh no, Chief Aggressor Vincent Valentino Starr is here.

Help!

He is elusive and determined to chase Willy out of the house.

So, I had to catch him (which wasn't easy).

 And confine him.

He wasn't happy at all.

You stay here, Vincent Starry ol' boy, just for a little while.

By the time I went back outside, Willy-O was gone.

He was outside the house at this favourite waiting spot, by the drain, so I put the bowl outside so that he could at least finish his meal.

A quick check, and everyone is still at the patio. That's good.

Mr G is keeping Vincent Valentino Starr company.

Rosie is happily playing in her box.

Daffodil is inside the dining room.

Oops, Timmy had escaped my cordon but he is happily rolling on the tiles just inside the gate.

Zippee-dee-doo-dah, Zippeedy-Day!
My-oh-my-oh what a wonderful day!

 Soon, Rosie comes out.

 Followed by Daffodil.

The Patio Family uses our grass as their toilet. Oh well, never mind. It's better than doing it outside, making the neighbours angry and leading to dire consequences. At least when it's inside, we can pick up after them. I've tried giving them a litter box, but they prefer the grass or the flower beds.

Mr G is also outside now, but he's quite contented resting under the car.

 Me Happy Timmy!

Happy Days are Here Again!
The skies above are clear again!

All still okay at the patio.

Willy-O is done. Oh good, there is some leftover which against assures me that he is probably getting some food from his house. Maybe he just wants to socialise with our Patio Family. Or reunite with Vincent Starr? But the latter seems to have forgotten him. Poor little Willy.

I found out later (though unconfirmed) that there are still occupants in Willy's house, so I hope he is still being fed.

 I let Vincent out.

Hello there...another tabby?

Where did you come from?

 Heh...it's Tabs.

She couldn't stand being inside Bunny's Place anymore with all the bullying so she practically begged to be let out.

Now, the poor girl is being bullied by Pole. The Cow Family is just so alpha. It must be in their genes.

Er, Mr Vincent Starr, you're not going to bully Tabs, are you?

Will you let Tabs stay here?

Tabs is so happy outside at the patio.

Me! Me! Me! What about me?!! I give my permission for Tabs to stay here!

Me, me, me!! Ask me!! Ask me!!

Why, thank you, Timmy, that's mighty kind of you.

 Inside, Indy is NOT happy.

I don't know what his grouses are, exactly, but he is clearly NOT happy at all.

 Vincent guards the gate.

No one crosses over.

Tabs decides that upstairs is safer and plays by herself.

She is SO happy if anyone comes upstairs because she can them ambush us and "wins" the game!

But I have to put her back inside.

She is too adventurous to be left alone in the house, unsupervised.

In close proximity of the encouraging and peaceful kind.

Kudos to Tiger for having been able to keep the peace for 7 years, living in the shadow of the Cow Family.
How does he do it?

I just close my eyes and radiate peace, and all will be well, says the former Undercat, now acting as adviser to the organisation.

Tabs would do well to learn this skill.

Later...

I'm not sure what is happening here but it looks like Willy is making friends with Daffodil?

 Or intimidating her?

There's no fun being an Undercat, so circumstances might drive an Undercat to fight back.

Not much different from our human interactions, is it?

More close encounters of the Indy (and Cleo) kind

Just how good is Indy at scaling heights?

Well, please see for yourself...

 He scaled up the fridge...

And managed to get down safely.

Updates: A reader sent this youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4VixiGLweY

(I simply MUST share it with you! Yes, folks, add that to your list of "And just what else can cats do that we do not know of??")

Me no do naughty things like that. Me good girl.

Cow, though also black-and-white, isn't adventurous, so we rule of the colour theory here. It must be the name, ie. Indy Jones. I just had to go name him after the legendary hero, so what do you expect, right?

This afternoon, Indy forced his way out of the room.

I guess the patio is a whole new world for him.

There is so much stimulus for his inquiring mind...new boxes to play with, etc.

What a happy place it must be for a cat...

And the pandan bush! Our masked hero simply loves it!

 Oh oh...Vincent is here.

Easy, boy, easy. Indy's a friend.

I let Vincent approach, but under close scrutiny.

 Indy notices Vincent.

I'm monitoring, no fear. The water hose is within quick and easy reach.

Oh oh...they are both on the aggressive. Vincent turns his head sideways and Indy does the same.

Suddenly, there is fierce growling and Indy charges at Vincent head-on!!

Okay, you two, break it up, break it up! Luckily it's not the heavyweights like Cow and Bunny.

I broke up the fight (there was no physical interaction at all, only growling and the letting out of a wailing war-cry on Indy's side as he lunged at Vincent).

Tabs had already taken cover in the room...well, just in  case the riot moves into the room, you'll never know, right?

It pays to be safe.

The masked hero is brought back unceremoniously (carried by me) to the room. He reports to his fellow black-and-white elder.

I almost got that tabby, you know. See my tail? It's still fluffed up.

Okay guys, enough adventure for today.

But later...

I spotted Cleo stalking the ginger plants.

She was doing it for a long time.

Oh no, what's inside the plants now?

Not wanting to take any chances, I spray water onto the plants.

Nothing came out.

I'll need to check this out further, just in case.

And it's going to rain soon...

Vincent is seeking shelter inside the dining room.

Everyone is on red alert.

WHO GOES THERE?!!

And hence, thy life will never be boring when thou hath cats.
