The Cow-Bunny saga continues at the vet's...

So, I managed to get an appointment first thing this morning.

I cleaned the two carriers, sprayed them with Feliway (the happy hormone for cats), and...

Plonk, plonk, I got the two of them inside the carriers. Poor fellows were sleeping, actually, but it's for the greater good, guys, so sorry...

Bunny sat at the back.

Cow in infront.

Amidst the orchestra in the car, we made it to the vet's and good...we're the first patients.

Cow will be examined first.

We let him out and he hit behind the microscope.

Might as well let Bunny go then. Bunny wasted no time in exploring the room.

While Bunny was being examined...Cow looked on, from behind the microscope.

Peek-a-boo!

Bunny's temperature is normal. His wounds do not look so bad as of now. I could opt for antibiotics as a preventive treatment but that isn't really necessary. Instead, Vetri DMG + a warm saline bath are recommended.

Warm saline bath = Immerse the cat into a warm water bath (with dissolved salt) for 15 minutes. Salt has curative powers. In fact, sea water is known to be very healing and helpful for some ailments.

Immersing Bunny into a bath...hmm. That's going to be quite a challenge. I asked if I could just immerse the part with wounds, but I won't know if there are other wounds on the body. Actually, they are just scratches, but with Bunny, it can turn septic. There is also bruising beside the pin-hole puncture wound. That has to be monitored.

Then, it was Cow's turn. Poor Cow also had a puncture wound and his is worse than Bunny's. There is already water coming out of the pin-hole wound.

Guess Bunny struck back, after all. Well, you can't blame a cat for fighting back, right? I mean, there he was just going upstairs, and suddenly Cow lunged up and attacked him.

The vet shaved off Cow's fur around the wound and cleaned it with hibiscrub.

Cow would need antibiotics and Denzo, a papase enzyme to reduce inflammation.

The wound might need lancing later on if it turns septic. I hope it won't. Hopefully, the antibiotics and Denzo would work to prevent this. Lancing would need sedation.

That's the wound, under the elbow.

So that's that, and off we went home.

Home at last!

Tiger came to say hi.

If only Tiger could teach these two a bit of his Gandhi philosophy in life...

Bunny headed straight to the kitchen.

By the way, Bunny weighed 6.4kg and Cow only 5.45kg, but both are overweight.

Fussie Cat for Bunny...and Tiger said he doesn't mind some, too.

Poor Cow...I hope he gets well soon. It's going to 5 days of medication for him.

Poor me also...

The Cow-Bunny saga continues...

Now I vaguely remember why I never used to like public holidays when my children were young. Somehow, they would fall sick during these holidays and we'd be at our wits' end looking for 24-hour clinics or rushing them to the emergency ward as their paediatrician would be on leave.

So I used to dread public holidays way back then.

The children are grown now, but looks like the cats have picked up this trend...

I think Cow & Bunny need a trip to the vet's, so I'm really hoping their regular vet is open today.

Meanwhile...

Cow went to sleep on the favourite chair. That means he is not feeling well too.

Bobby's looking for Cow.

Okay, Cow...we know you're not feeling well.

Ahh...found him.

Bunny is asleep on Jia-Wen's bed.

Indy and Cleo are not "in the picture" of this big fight.

They both share the shrine room upstairs.

That basket is Indy's new favourite place now. He's always there.

Pole is not in the house. She just came back to eat this morning and decided it's probably safer at the neighbour's for now.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind...
And as long as you don't touch my baskets and boxes, I'm at peace with the world.

Thank goodness I managed to contact the clinic. It's open today, but only for half a day.

Wish me luck in carting the ferocious twosome to the clinic later....

By the way, Ming-Yi too has fever so it looks like the public holiday jinx is still with us.

The aftermath of yesterday's Cow-Bunny War

The sounds of Bunny vomiting on the foot of my bed woke me up this morning. However, it did not really look very serious. It wasn't food, but just a small quantity of a slightly yellowish liquid. I felt his body and it wasn't particularly warm.

I came downstairs and Bunny ate his usual raw chicken. In fact, he asked for more.

Cow was in the living room (I let him in last night, after about an hour of solitary confinement in Mac's place), and he too walked towards the kitchen but I noticed a limp on him. Upon checking, there were no visible injuries.

Cow did not eat. But he still took Bobby to his food bowl.

Grooming himself.

Bunny, after breakfast.

He's sitting on the favourite chair, which usually means he doesn't feel too well. This is Bobby's chair but he allows the cats on sit on it if they are unwell.

I'll see how Bunny is later when the clinic opens.

Bunny attacked...by Cow

I knew something was not quite right with Bunny.

This evening, Bunny had just finished eating and he was on his way upstairs when out of the blue, Cow suddenly got up, dashed up the stairs and before we could even shout, there were loud feline war-cries on the stairs and tufts of "white feathers" (it's actually cat fur, but we call it "feathers") came flying down the stairs.

In those few moments, I rushed to the stairs and both of them had come down. There was no time to get the water-spray, so I could only shout at Cow, and he scampered off to Mac's place at the back.

We caught hold of Bunny who was visibly shaken and scared, hence, he was growling. We tried to calm him and make him stay in the house, but he wanted to go out to the porch.

Outside on the porch, Bunny went under the car and stayed there. So I sat with him in the porch for sometime.

Meanwhile, I closed the kitchen windows so that Cow could remain in isolation in Mac's place and not come in to terrorise poor Bunny again.

I was really worried Bunny would run away.

A quick check to make sure Cow was okay. He's just under solitary confinement in Mac's place.

No injuries on him.  Obviously not, since Bunny is so mild-mannered and was the victim.

After awhile in the porch, I brought Bunny into the house and closed the windows. Of course, I had to give him a teeny weeny bit of food. Then, Bunny went upstairs and settled in the shrine room where he felt safer.

Soon, luckily Jia-Wen came home. Bunny has adopted Jia-Wen so Bunny feels closest to him.

Bunny went onto Jia-Wen's bed. That's usually where he would be whenever Jia-Wen is home.

Poor little Bunny.

He started grooming himself.

There were a few scratches on his nose and some on his body, but none severe enough to warrant using povidone iodine.

Only this one single wound bite had a bit of blood on it. I'll have to watch this to see if it escalates into a septic wound. Sigh...I guess Cow, being the alpha, would naturally attack any other cat who is defenseless. I'm quite sure Bunny wasn't feeling too well today. I've given him Vetri DMG twice already.

You can't see the scratches on his nose, but it's there.

Soon, Bunny fell asleep.

Cow is still in Mac's place. He hasn't moved an inch. I think (I hope!) he feels sorry for what he has done.

Bunny is missing....(and found!!)

It is now 2.41pm. Bunny is missing from home.

This morning, Bunny did not come into the kitchen as usual for breakfast. He sat in the living room coffee table. That is not normal, so I thought he wasn't feeling well.

I brought his chicken out for him to the coffee table and he ate it all up.

Later, he came into the kitchen and asked for more food.

He did feel slightly warmer than usual. I had wanted to take him to the vet's, but since he ate, I thought he was alright.

I gave him Vetri DMG too.

Then, we went out and came back at around 1.30pm.

All my five cats came back except Bunny. That isn't normal. Bunny would always either be in the house, or he would come back asking for food.

For the last 1 hour, I have gone up and down the road looking for Bunny. I have searched the back alley as well. None of my neighbours has seen him.

I know it may be a little too early to raise the alert, but I might as well do it.

If you're reading this, please pray that Bunny is safe and will come home soon.

UPDATES:

No sooner had I click "Publish" than I looked up and out of my window and saw the familiar stumpy tail...

That simply cannot be any other cat...

I rushed out to Mac's place and quickly parted the clothes...

YAY!!!  It's Bunny!!

BUNNY!!  WHERE have you been???

Of course it's like not he's going to answer me, right?

Never mind...come in, come in for some food, Bunny.

Fussie Cat?

Yes...Fussie Cat.

Bunny came in from the back alley, so he must have gone somewhere there to sleep, I guess.

Naughty little fellow...gave me a near heart-attack!

I think I need the rest of the day to recover now...

Be it ever so humble...

...there's no place like home.

Indy still plays with his ultraman pillow sometimes.

Nowadays, he is getting more confident. He's in our bedroom every morning, together with Cleo. In fact, normally, all five of them would be either in the bedroom or just outside. Sometimes, Indy would ambush the rest (see photo above).

This is Cleo's domain - the ironing board. If she's on it, nobody gets to iron his/her clothes.

Pole seldom comes upstairs, though. But it's been raining a lot, so she's at home more often these days.

Pole is Cow & Bunny's sister.

Tiger in his baby basket.

I may be asleep outside my basket, but it's still mine.

In fact, he has claimed ownership to all the tshirt boxes in my room.

Cow still faithfully takes Bobby to his food bowl every day.

They all take turns on the pink box.

Tiger shares his boxes with everyone, so Cow gets to enjoy them as well.

Best of friends.

The Bunnyphant.

He'd never pass off any offers of food, no matter what.

....there's no place like home.
