Cow's "Independence Day"!!!!

I woke up at 5am today. I'm definitely more excited than Cow, that's for sure!

It wasn't until 6.30am that we decided to let Cow have his "independence". It's been so long and last night, I could see he was already scratching everywhere. The vet said "3 days" and today is the third day.

Here we go, Cow...

Ooh...a nice long scratch!

He didn't rub his eyes (only a little bit), he was more busy grooming his paws and scratching his neck. So the vet was absolutely right. It does take about 3 days after the removal of stitches for the eye to open fully and the itching from the stitches to be minimal.

Eating without the collar, after 25 days!

Enjoy your breakfast to the fullest without having to adjust with the e-collar, Cow!

Throughout the 25 days, I made sure the water bowl was filled to the brim at all times so that Cow could drink more easily with the collar on.

How does Cow do it?

During the three weeks that Cow was on the e-collar (and still is now), he had, on numerous occasions, slipped out through the window grille in the middle of the night.

We don't get to see how he does it, but in the morning, he's outside in the pantry.

You see, we make sure he is INSIDE the room before we lock up for the night (we close the wooden door). The other cats can go in and out of the room to the pantry by using the window, but Cow should not be able to do it as the e-collar is too wide for the window grille.

And yet, he could do it.

How does he do it?

See? This morning, he was outside again.

And I'm very, very sure the e-collar is too wide for the window grille.

So I measured it today.

It's not a perfect circle, but the smallest diameter is 18.5cm.

And the gap in the window is only 10.5cm.

How do you do it, Cow?

We figured it must be Pole. She's a brilliant engineer and an escape artist supremo. She must have calculated the angle of escape and taught Cow how to do it.

It can't be Bunny. He's so lazy, he won't even come in through any gap (big enough) unless someone opens the grille for him.

Best not to ask questions which have no answers and just give me a massage, please?

Tomorrow is e-collar OFF day!

Less than half a day away....yay!!

What Mr Zurik does

He puts on his best "muka kesian" and trots after me all around the park.

He wants people to think he's my loyal cat.

Today, he followed me for two full rounds again, until I relented and invited him back for a second breakfast.

But he has to eat away from the PatioCats.

This evening, at dinner time, he had a scuffle with Ginger.

Mr Zurik whacked me....sobs.

Yes, Ginger, I witnessed the whole thing. I know. For no reason, Zurik whacked you. He's just trying to pick a fight.

Rosie is so afraid of him.

 If only you'd behave, Mr Zurik...sigh.

Closer to Cow Mau's "Independence Day"

Just a little bit more than a day to go....until Friday morning when the e-collar can finally come off!

And meanwhile, of course he is still getting his frequent body and facial massages....on demand!

Cow figures he'd better take advantage of the "offer" while it lasts!

Breakfast at the patio

Breakfast was very early this morning.

It was peaceful as Mr Zurik hadn't come...yet.

But came, he did.

We feed him twice a day, but he cannot get along with the PatioCats, so we are looking for a home for him.

If you'd like to give him a home, please do let me know. Mr Zurik is an extremely "manja" cat and very clever too!

December blankets

These were the blankets that we gave away in December to friends who have helped us silently and anonymously over the years. The moment we declared we were going to continue running the Fund, our friends were one of the first ones to start the donation ball rolling again. Eleven more were also given away, but these were returned to us for auction, so you shall be seeing them later when we put them out! We thank all our friends very much!

I sewed these pinwheel pieces and let Ginger decide on the arrangement.
