Two cat-wars averted...phew!

Vincent comes back to the patio for mealtimes, but still refuses to eat with everyone else, so I have to feed him at the pillar. He refuses to eat anywhere else but at the pillar.

mini-CIMG6842

Ginger accompanies his friend as he eats.

I think Ginger is trying to make peace (remember Ginger started bullying Vincent when the latter had that small paw injury).

mini-CIMG6840

Daffodil is watching too.

mini-CIMG6844

Meanwhile, Mr Zurik is fine and dandy.

I really felt like releasing him, the poor dear, being caged for 6 days now. Sigh...

mini-CIMG6846

I'm confident he will still come back for food even if I release him.

Note that Mr Zurik doesn't eat like a glutton. He only eats as much as he needs.

After all, I'm confined, why do I need so much food?

And today is already Day 6 of the antibiotics. The vet often plays it safe by giving the full 10 days, but I know some vets only give a 5-day course.

But Mr Zurik is really nice about it and only whines once in a while. I do not blame him at all. It must be extremely, extremely boring sitting inside the cage 24/7.

Meanwhile, outside, I suddenly heard the sound of more cat whining...

mini-CIMG6848

Oh oh...Willy has come in and Vincent is defending his territory.

mini-CIMG6849

 Er...who is winning?

mini-CIMG6851

Psst...by the way, the "thing" stuck at Willy's anus has been there for weeks. It's either dried faeces or a dried leaf. I couldn't get close enough to remove it, but it's harmless.

mini-CIMG6852

I broke up the whining.

It was just whining. No potential to break into a fight.

mini-CIMG6855

Then I realised it wasn't Willy or Vincent whining!

It was Timmy!! He was hiding under the car, whining and watching the entire episode unfold!!

Timmy was probably saying: Stop fighting, you two, stop fighting! Don't fight and everyone gets to eat here. There's enough food for everyone, please.

mini-CIMG6856

Daffodil was also hiding under the other car.

mini-CIMG6858

Rosie was inside the house...sitting prettily.

mini-CIMG6859

All okay now, everyone's inside.

In Bunny's place, another fight almost broke out.

Is is some misalignment of the stars today?

mini-CIMG6827

Pole, who was happily playing on the table, suddenly tensed up.

Why, Pole?

Just then, we heard the sound of growling outside in the back garden.

mini-CIMG6825

It was Cow and Indy growling at each other, and guess who broke up the fight?

Yes, Tiger!

Tiger quickly stood in between the two warring black-and-whites and talked peace.

As you know, Indy and Cow are titans and when they fight, fur will fly and someone will definitely get hurt.

So, hooray for Tiger for settling the impending war peacefully with no bloodshed.

Never underestimate those who are quiet for they are often wise. Very wise indeed.

mini-CIMG6826

I'm just watching from here.

mini-CIMG6829

As you know, Indy IS cranky.

So we let him release his energy by playing.

mini-CIMG6831 mini-CIMG6832

Cow is very adept at handling the string. Once he gets it, you cannot get it back unless he decides to retract his claws and let it go.

mini-CIMG6833

Tiger, on the other hand, doesn't know how to let go.

Often, the string gets stuck to his claws and he doesn't know how to retract his claws!! And if you pull on the string, Tiger gets pulled along until we disentangle the string from his claws!

mini-CIMG6836

 Everyone loves the string toy!

But Cow wins hands-down at the String Toy Championship!

He is not only super quick, nobody can get the string from him if he doesn't let go.

Mr Quack's updates (he has kitten friends!)

Updates from the adopter!!
He is now not as afraid as last time. but he'll run if he hears my voice calling him and I am still unable to touch him yet :(. However, his best friends are those tiny little kittens. They all sit around him and he seems to like that very much. :))

mr quack

Timmy's diet....wow!

You won't believe this....

mini-CIMG6845

Leftovers after dinner...

And Timmy was mooching around the bowls but get this...he was NOT eating up the leftovers!!!

mini-CIMG6847

 It's called "discipline", you know.

Three cheers for Timmy!!!

Another new cat on the block?

This evening, there was sound of cat aggression in the porch. When I looked out, I saw an Indy-like cat scuttle away while Ginger was looking on from atop the car. I think Vincent chased her away.

According to my husband, this is a pavilion cat who is bullied by Rosie. She is fed by Francis at the pavilion and used to be Rosie's friend previously. I think she has already been spayed though I cannot be sure. She's a black-and-white cat, and looks like Indy from behind.

Looks like she has grown braver?

Didn't manage to get any photos, though...

Vincent Starr goes on a hunger strike!

Two days ago, Vincent did not appear at the patio with everyone. When I was feeding Willy at the culvert, Vincent suddenly appeared and wanted to eat together with Willy, so I brought out a bowl and fed him there.

I didn't think anything of it then. Thought maybe he just came back late.

Yesterday, again, he did not appear at the patio for his meals. Instead, he stayed outside in the porch and I finally fed him at the pillar. He ate alone.

Again, I thought nothing of it until this morning when he appeared at the railway tracks leading to the patio but stopped there. He didn't want to join the rest.

I brought his bowl out to him but he just looked at the food and went away.

mini-CIMG6800

I waited for everyone to start eating.

Er...where is Timmy?

mini-CIMG6799

He had followed me in to ask for a bigger portion of food, I think.

But no, Timmy, that's all you are getting.

mini-CIMG6801

I went out to feed Willy and looked for Vincent.

mini-CIMG6802

By then, Timmy had finished his food and he came to....er, help.

mini-CIMG6803

I went up and down the road calling for Vincent.

He was nowhere to be seen.

Sigh...I just hope he hasn't run away from home.

Vincent must have misunderstood thinking that I have let Mr Zurik joined the patio family and this was really bad timing because it was right after Vincent's own paw injury where Ginger had started bullying him.

Bad timing, bad timing!

Vincent is very close to me (and that is why Indy hates him with a vengeance). He gets to sleep on the sofa with us and he often sits with me whenever we watch television.

I guess Vincent feels that his position is being threatened and he has responded by distancing himself.

I couldn't find Vincent anywhere....

mini-CIMG6804

This is his pillar spot.

mini-CIMG6805

Life can be complicated...even for cats.

mini-CIMG6806

Meanwhile, everything is going well for Mr Zurik.

The recovery of his wounds is amazing. I don't even have to put iodine on it.

I have half a mind to release Mr Zurik already and take a chance on him coming back for meals. I can feed him his antibiotics then. This is so Vincent won't get the wrong idea and distance himself even further.

Or I could transfer Mr Zurik's cage elsewhere?

But where?

After half an hour...

Vincent appeared at the gate!

VINCENT!! You're back!

mini-CIMG6807 mini-CIMG6808

He ate at his pillar, but was wary of the rest watching him.

mini-CIMG6809 mini-CIMG6810

I had to shoo the rest away so that Vincent could eat in peace.

mini-CIMG6811 mini-CIMG6812

Me got no issue with anything.

mini-CIMG6813

Should I release Mr Zurik yet?

Maybe after 5 full days of antibiotics, which this evening. I'm betting he will definitely hang around for food so he will come back. And even if he doesn't, I know some vets prescribe a 5 day-course. I may have to take the chance. But then again, I had another intention of caging him - to tame him. Is he tame enough yet?

Mr Zurik...do you have your own plans too?

Timmy's 20% diet - on track!

mini-CIMG6787

Timmy's diet is on track!

It was only the first day that he kept asking for more food. On the following day until now, he seems quite satisfied just eating whatever he has been given. But of course he tries to steal food from the rest (that's already a habit) so careful monitoring is needed to ensure that no stealing and snatching happens.

mini-CIMG6788

Am I any thinner yet?

I don't expect to see any results until after 1 1/2 months, Timmy.
But you've been a good boy, eating less than before. Keep it up!

I have also reduced everyone's food, actually. I remember the vet always reminding me that underfeeding is better than overfeeding. So, eating a little less is okay. Hara Hachi Bu - the Okinawan eating principle that says "eat only until you are 80% full". The Okinawans are the longest living people in the world so that about says it all. Humans, please take heed too!

mini-CIMG6791

Daffodil can do with a little weight loss too.

Hers, I think, is the middle age midriff spread.

mini-CIMG6792

At the pantry, we are observing a 10% cut as well, and everyone seems to be taking it very well.

No complaints too.

Actually, only Bunny, Cow and Tiger need to go on a diet. The rest are all okay. Cleo and Pole are in perfect shape. Why, they eat so little. Sometimes, they even skip a meal. Fasting, I hear, is good for everyone.

mini-CIMG6795

That's right, Timmy.

No more. You've had enough.

mini-CIMG6796

Of course exercise is good too.

But Tiger, you're supposed to get up and play, not sit down.

mini-CIMG6797 mini-CIMG6798

 Oopsies!

Willy and Mr Zurik stories

mini-20130629_162438

Since Mr Zurik is still at Jojo's Healing Haven, Willy enjoys total peace outside and is often seen sleeping peacefully by the drain.

This morning, I went for a walk on the road around the playground and Willy was seen everywhere at the playground. He seems to have "conquered" the entire playground. It's literally his playing field.

mini-20130629_225143

Daffodil and Ginger were spotted atop the car last night.

mini-CIMG6783

Mr Zurik is in total recuperation and seems to be making good use of Jojo's facilities for a restful time.

Little did he know that he had visitors...

mini-CIMG6782

I only managed to snap his picture of Igor as he and Otto were scuttling away.

They had come to the patio to visit their "boss".

I hope Igor has abandoned their plans to avenge the capture of their boss. As they can probably see, their boss is well taken care of. Why, they are most welcome to visit, anytime of the day and we'll be happy to serve them kibbles as well.

mini-CIMG6789

Since it's been quite boring for Mr Zurik, I let him shred newspapers every day.

mini-CIMG6790

I know you wish you could climb on the ledge, Mr Zurik.

Just a few more days, please. You have a course of antibiotics to finish.

mini-CIMG6793

He's actually been extremely good.

He finishes his food and his antibiotics (hidden in the food) every day, without any problems at all.

mini-CIMG6794

I can see both his wounds are healing beautifully too.
