This afternoon, Bosco was comfortably sitting on the sofa next to me. That's when I noticed how "grey" his white patches were. It's supposed to be white, but it's all grey. Greasy, I think...
So, being such a hot day, I thought it might be good to....
...give Bosco a bath!
So I carried him, the poor guy was so, so trusting, I almost felt bad.
Then, I placed him into the kitchen sink and turned on the warm water tap. Slowly, I wet his fur...
It was quite a bit of an adventure, but all in all, there were no mishaps on either side. Bosco didn't quite like it, but he did not put up any fight either save for some struggling to get out of the sink.
While I was bathing him, Indy came onto the kitchen window sill to peep. Poor Indy, he is very possessive of me and now we have Bosco who thinks he has adopted me. Bosco reminds me clearly of Kimba. That was how Kimba was. He came, he conquered me...and he went after 2 months, tragically. Sigh... Kimba was Indy's best friend as both were kittens then. They were at the age where they played games together. I still remember once when both of them brought a big rat into the house, so happy with their discovery.
Anyway, back to the bath...
Being so trusting, he did not even attempt to run away after I had wiped him.
Imagine that...my six year-olds whom I hand-raised don't even trust me enough to let me pill them or do anything to them, and here we have Bosco who barely knows me for 2 weeks, putting his entire life in my hands. Now, how do you explain that? It's some karmic link or some affinity at work here, isn't it?
Indy and Cow were watching from the room...
Hah...YOU! My next "victim"!
But truth be told, since Tabs came to us, we have not bathed her before....(oopsies!). Well, there was never a need to because she is always so clean, and coiffed, etc...
Our girl was caught by surprise and was quite annoyed...
The poor girl felt so "ashamed", she scuttled off to hide behind the rocking chair. Indy was the first to lick her and comfort her. Good ol' Indy!
Sobs, sobs...what has she done to me?
Now, anyone else wants a bath? It's a hot and sunny day...
NO.
Ok, don't even ask...
Hmm...possible victim, but he's so heavy and if he struggles, I might get injured!
Er...no, thanks.
*Cili padi*
So it looked like I had no candidate for a bath...
Nothing like a good nap after a nice bath, ya!

hahaha i never have the guts to bathe adult cats. kittens are my victims normally...kittens without a mum dont know how to groom themselves
I have to confess too. I have not bathe Olie or Babygirl since the first day i had them. I think it's nearly 2 years now... hhehhheh. I am so ashamed of myself...
I'm not sure bathing is necessary with short-haired cats if they're healthy (no skin problems requiring medicated shampoo) and not getting into sticky stuff. Maneki would rip my eyes out if I tried to bathe her, and I'm not sure that I'd fare much better with Crumpet. Jimmy Lee at Home Pet Food & Care gave me an alternative to a bath, however, and both of my water-phobic cats will tolerate this -- simply brush the cats, and then wipe them down with a damp cloth.
I pray each time before I get my cat and bathe him, that all is well. During the bathe - I have to listen to his "tolong, tolong, tolong" meow. Thereafter, during the drying process with towel - I make sure my hands are well covered. In the end, I will still get scratches from the kicking and yanking.
My late cat was a stray kitten, I picked up and took care of him and neuter him and let him back into the back alley. Because he knew the house and family, he will come back for food and shelter and refuge after cat fights or during thunderstorm.
Being a street cat, he is fashionably grey. (he is a pure white cat with blue eyes). I bathe him once every fortnight.
So, it is a drama when it comes to bathing cats. :)
hahaha.. Yen Ling, your cat like my Fatso.. also meowing non stop like someone abusing her.
i swear the neighbors think we are abusing her when she takes her fortnightly baths..
worst one is after we bath her, she protest and go out after drying and get herself all dirty again! mind you that she is a black and white cat - she became a black cat! we cant let her out after bathing else we have to bath her twice! yes and scratches is normal as well.
I stopped bathing my cats for now...all 6 of them..it used to be a fortnightly exercise but now it's an annual affair.
i think i will wipe them down with a damn cloth and slowly work my way to a bath later on.....else i will swat till shreds...
Yen Ling,
That "tolong, tolong, tolong" line is a classic!...LOL! I can imagine it.
ya right? Suddenly, cats can speak bahasa in the shower. You know that male cat meow - it sounds exactly like a wailing tolong..tolong..tolong.. is embarrassing!
Amy - yes, I wrap him all up in towels and keep him inside the bedroom till he is dry and for once he is clean. In the room, he will go meow-lo, meow-lo, meow-lo at the door(which sounds like, Hello??!)
