Mac passes away

Mac passed away peacefully early this morning after fighting on for about 2 weeks.  He fought till the very end, and even had a good meal last night.  He finally finished the can of AD he had been eating since he became sick.

In the past few days, he regained his energy and could bark.  He would bark each time he wanted to urinate so that we knew.

As Dr Susanna said, when pets still have their energy, they can choose when they wish to go.

Mac chose to wait for my daughter, Ming-Yi, to finish her exams so that she could come back and look after him in his last days.  Ming-Yi looked after Mac for 5 days.

He chose to go this morning, after a brave struggle with degenerative diseases.

Mac is already reborn now.  He spent his final days surrounded by family and friends, in peace and with lots of love.

I am going to have a hard time saying, "I have one dog now".  Mac spent 13 years with us.  He was such a spunky little guy, with tremendous "lung-power" (his non-stop barking irritated the neighbours till no end, they put in TWO complaints to the authorities!), and he was also incredibly sharp in his senses.

We will definitely miss him.

He was still warm this morning, when I discovered he had passed away, at about 7.30am.  Ming-Yi said he did gasp for breath a few times, at about 5-6am this morning.

Ming-Yi and Mac, with Bobby, his long-time companion (and sparring partner) of 13 years.

Suki is curious.  She won't know what is going on.

Bobby licked Mac's eyes for a long time, cleaning both sides.

Long-time compatriot cleaning his friend's eyes.  Bobby put his paws on Mac and tried to wake him up.  "Get up and fight, friend, come on...".  I had to take Bobby away.  At this point in time, Bobby is still trying very hard to wake Mac up.  I guess he does not understand what death is.

We would like to thank the following friends for their messages of condolences:

From Terry Saw: He fought till the very end, a tiny fella with a big soul.  Mac is probably causing havoc right now in some other part of the universe!  May he be well and happy.

From Mun Yee:  May Mac be in a better existence now.  I will try to come for his cremation.

From Mary Yap: My condolence to you and family on the passing of Mac.  May he be reborn in a higher realm.

Thank you, Mary, for coming over to give Mac "Dhamma pills" from your Guru Rinpoche on Monday night.  I gave Mac a pill that night itself.  I'm sure it has helped him regain his wellbeing and be more at peace.

From Dr Susanna Brida: Although I feel (and feel with you) your sadness having lost a sweet and loyal companion.  It is Mac's peaceful passing away that gives comfort.  He had lived his life gracefully until the end.  What a truly beautiful soul!  He shall never be forgotten, together with his many friends.  I will be with you in my heart.  I truly feel with you the great loss of a wonderful companion.  But my guess is that while we mourn our loss, Mac is happily united with friends, able to move freely and full of energy once again!

Yes, dear Dr, Mac is happily prancing (and barking non-stop!) in "Rainbow Bridge" with Vixey looking on, and Kimba as well.

Mac's cremation will be in Puchong Perdana this afternoon, at 12.30pm.

As Terry said, Mac is probably somewhere in the universe now, full of energy and creating havoc (disturbing some other neighbour!).

May you be well and happy, Mac!

My deepest condolence to you and your family over dear sweet Mac's passing. Yes, I see dear Mac galloping happily, tongue hanging and panting, over the vast meadow of gold with excited Vix and Kimba ... all cute faces bursting with joy! I see all my strays too, and I see my little tuxedo gugurl ... hind legs running perfectly without any deforminities or handicaps! Praise God!

Prayers for Tiger too, friend!

Take care,

There was this young man who lost his beloved dog of 7 years. His heart was heavy with his loss and then one afternoon while resting on a bed and crying for his beloved dog whom he named Metta, he suddenly found himself in a beautiful sunny park with trees and plants with flowers and the air scintillated with vibrant energy. Then he felt something touching his lower legs. He looked down and there was his beloved four-legged friend jumping at him. The shock of seeing his four-legged friend pulled him back to the bed with a slam and his entire physical body jumped up a few inches before landing on the bed.
When calm returned he realised God and his Guru was showing him one important lesson...and that is...And where is that death of your beloved pet? There is no death, just a movement from one physical earthly realm to another more permanent astral realm. The soul whether that of animal or human cannot die. When our time comes, all our four-legged and two-legged friends of this physical earth who have gone earlier will be waiting for us in the astral realm and there will be much rejoicing. So fear not death. It is just a release from this earth to another better place.
And who was that young man? It was me many many years ago.
Mac is in the same place as my Metta and they are happy and well and waiting for us....Rejoice! OmOmOm

I just read about Mac's passing on your blog and i'm truly sorry to hear that, Mac's has been a fighter till the end and like everyone said he'll be in heaven now and enjoying his time with Vixey.
Once a person told me every dog goes to heaven and i believe it cuz animals unlike human does not have negative thoughts and traits like humans do, so I believe each and every one of them
will end up in heaven and having a ball of a time now. I know how it feels cuz I just lost my 12 year old dog last year on 20th of April and like Mac he's a fighter too and he fought good battle, right
till the very end. He waited for my elder sister to come home and see him before he passed on (my sis travelled from s'pore just to see him one last time) with the whole family by his side and
i'm sure he's at a happier place now. Like you said 'come rain or shine' there's work to be done and i'm sure that what Mac wants from all of us and i can hear his bark of approval from up above :)!

Take care, kah yein.

Dr.Chan my condolonces to you and your family. i'm so sorry for Mac's loss. Stay strong :) here is a something for you miss chan :)

A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, you did not turn me away from you. Rather you held me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I now leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Know that Mac had 13 good years living with you, more than what most dogs could only hope for. You take care. Best regards to your family, both two-legged and four-legged.

I'm sorry I am only reading this posting now and not earlier. If not I would have made time to attend Mac's cremation.

The strange thing is yesterday morning, I woke up feeling something was not right. I shove the thought aside but my intuition was strong.
